UPDATE: Ibrahim Magu Regains Freedom

Ibrahim Magu has been released from police custody after about 10 days in detention.

The suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission regained his freedom Wednesday evening, Premium Times reports.

He was arrested on July 6, 2020, over allegations of corruption and brought before the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential panel.

Mr Magu has been appearing before the panel which is investigating the allegations levelled against him by Abubakar Malami, Nigeria’s justice minister.

He had earlier written – through his lawyer – to the panel requesting that he be released so that he could attend to his failing health.
